Android is a great little operating system. It’s absolutely packed with great features, awesome hacks, and time-saving tricks. But how much do you really know about your phone or tablet? Sure, you can make phone calls and send texts, but we bet there is something in this article that you weren’t aware of.

 

1. Switch to Guest Mode for different user

Keep your pictures to yourself. Let the kinds hop on without them accidently calling overseas. Guest Mode lets you switch to huest settings with a single tap.

Step 1 : Swipe down to open Quick Settings.

Step 2 : Tap the user icon onthe top right.

Step 3 : Select "Guest" to start Guest Mode. Then your phone will switch user.

Step 4 : To end guest mode, tap the user icon and select "Remove guest".

Step 5 : Tap "Remove", then all apps and data from the guest session will be deleted.

 

2. Never lose a photo even if you lose your phone

Keep all your photos and videos safe with Auto Backup. Just tap to turn on, and get back to snapping cool stuff.

Step 1 : Open the Google Photos app from the Google folder on your home screen.

Step 2 : When opening the app for the first time, follow the on-screen instructions to backup your photos.

Step 3 : To chaneg this after set-up, go to the in-app settingd menu by selecting the menu bar in the top left corner.

Step 4 : To get all the latest features, ensure the Google Photos app is up-to-date via the Play Store.

Step 5 : You can also use Syncios Data Transfer  to backup and restore all your Android photos, contacts, call logs, messges, music and other data.

3. Find your phone even when it is silent

Jump on your computer and find out where your phone's hiding. Pinpoint its location using Google maps or, if it's nearby, use the service to make it ring.

Step 1 : Sign in to the Android Device Manager  website and ensure your current mobile device is selected.

Step 2 : From here you can now lock the phone, erase your data or ring it - your phone will ring for up to five minutes even if it's on silent.

Step 3 : To quickly find your phone in the future, you can always ask Googleto "find my phone".

4. Disable app notification

Bugged by annoying app notifications that just keep coming? If you don’t know already, these app notifications also drain your phone’s battery. If you want to turn them off, and you are on Jelly Bean 4.1 and above, here’s how:

Step 1 : On any of your unwanted notifications in your notification bar, long press on the notification for a message box to appear.

Step 2 : Tap on App Info > Untick Show Notifications > OK.

5. Access the hidden developer option.

To really get a sense of how customizable Android is, activate the “secret” developer mode.

Go to settings, about phone, and click on “build number” seven times. Your device should tell you something like “you’re now a developer!” It’s all very Easter Egg-esque. Once that’s done, return to system settings, and with luck you’ll now see something entitled “developer options”.

Once you have enabled the developer options, you can open the debugging mode and plug in your Android device to computer to backup or restore your phone data.
